Indian markets log longest weekly losing streak in 25 years

Indian markets log longest weekly losing streak in 25 years

Indian share prices fell again on Thursday.

Two major market measures, the Sensex and Nifty 50, both lost about 1%.

They have now fallen for eight weeks in a row.

This is the longest such losing streak in 25 years.

Foreign investors have been taking money out of Indian stocks.

Expensive oil and high interest rates in the United States made Indian investments less attractive.

Car companies also fell because September sales were weaker than expected.

Information technology companies were one of the few groups that gained.

Markets will be closed on Friday for Gandhi Jayanti.
