Quebec voters face October 5 election as separatists lead

Quebec is having an election on October 5.

People will choose which party should run the province.

The current government is the Coalition Avenir Quebec, led by Premier Christine Frechette.

Polls say the Parti Quebecois may win.

The Parti Quebecois wants Quebec to become independent from Canada.

However, its leader says there would not be another independence vote before 2029.

Two earlier votes, in 1980 and 1995, did not approve independence.

Recent polls show that most people still oppose separating from Canada.
