Indian Passport Overhaul: E-Passports, Updates for UAE Expats
India is updating passports to make them better and safer, especially for people living in places like the UAE.
The new e-passports have computer chips with your fingerprints and face info.
If you're married, adding your spouse's name is easier.
If you have a child, you'll need their birth certificate.
Your address will be kept secret with a code.
Also, your parents' names won't always be needed, which helps families of all types.
There will also be colored passport covers for easier identification.
Finally, there will be more passport offices to help more people.
These changes are designed to make passport processes faster and better.
E-passports with RFID chips will be rolled out.
Spouses can be added using a self-declared affidavit, not requiring a marriage certificate.
Birth certificates are now required for children born on or after October 1, 2023.
Residential addresses will be stored digitally for privacy.
Passport covers will use a color-coded system for identification.
