Government unveils district-led textiles plan
The government has introduced a new plan called the District-Led Textiles Transformation (DLTT) Plan.
This plan aims to make 100 districts in India very good at making textiles so they can sell their products all over the world.
Another 100 districts will be helped to become self-sufficient in textiles.
The government looked at all districts using special rules to decide which ones should be part of the plan.
The plan focuses a lot on the eastern and northeastern parts of India, especially on helping tribal areas and improving connections.
The government will work with industries and schools to make this plan successful.
The goal is to make these districts strong in textiles and sell unique handicrafts to the world.
The government launched the District-Led Textiles Transformation (DLTT) Plan at the National Textile Ministers Conference in Guwahati.
The plan aims to transform 100 high-potential districts into Global Export Champions and elevate 100 Aspirational Districts into self-reliant hubs.
Districts were categorized based on Export Performance, MSME Ecosystem, and Workforce Presence.
The initiative prioritizes the east and northeast zones for tribal belt development, connectivity improvement, and GI tagging.
The plan involves strategic convergence of government resources with industry and academia to strengthen textile clusters.
