Gujarat Creates New Talukas, Reshapes District
The Gujarat government is creating 17 new local administrative areas called talukas, and a new district called Vav-Tharad.
This means that citizens will have local access to services.
This decision, announced after a cabinet meeting, is part of administrative reform.
The government aims to complete the process by October 2.
The new talukas are expected to improve access to social services by being closer to the people.
This move follows the previous creation of new talukas in 2013.

Vav-Tharad, the 34th district, was also approved, carved out of Banaskantha.
The total number of talukas increased to 265 from 248.
