NH10 Reopens One-Way After Mudslide as Yuksom Families Affected
A mudslide blocked an important road in Sikkim called NH10.
Workers cleared enough mud for vehicles to use the road in one direction on Sunday.
Another nearby stretch was also opened temporarily.
Some drivers used smaller alternative roads, but said those roads were bumpy and damaged.
Heavy rain also caused landslides in Yuksom.
The landslides damaged houses and killed or injured livestock.
Twelve families received government relief money.
Three families are staying at a relief camp with 17 affected people.
NH10 at 20th Mile, Bardang, reopened to one-way traffic on Sunday after a day-long mudslide clearance operation.
The 30th Mile stretch was also temporarily opened, while restoration work continued at some locations.
Drivers reported difficulty using alternative roads near Singtam because of uneven and damaged stretches.
Heavy rainfall in Yuksom on September 18 damaged homes, livestock and public infrastructure.
Twelve households received Rs 2,70,400 in relief, while 17 affected people are sheltering at a relief camp.
