India-Afghanistan Sign $100M Pharma Deal
India and Afghanistan have signed a big deal worth $100 million to work together on medicines.
An Afghan company called Rofi's International Group and an Indian company called Zydus Lifesciences made this agreement in Dubai.
At first, India will send medicines to Afghanistan.
Later, they plan to make medicines in Afghanistan too.
This is important because Afghanistan is trying to make new friends for trade instead of relying on Pakistan.
The leaders of Afghanistan say they want more businesses to come and work there safely.
This deal is a big step for Afghanistan to get better medicines and for India to have a bigger role in Afghanistan's healthcare.
India's Zydus Lifesciences and Afghanistan's Rofi's International Group signed a $100 million MoU for pharmaceutical cooperation.
The agreement aims to improve Afghanistan's pharmaceutical capacity and reduce dependence on imported medicines.
Zydus will initially export medicines to Afghanistan and later establish domestic production.
The deal is seen as a setback to Pakistan, which has traditionally been a key trade hub for Afghanistan.
Afghanistan's Taliban government has banned trade with Pakistan and is seeking to diversify its trade partnerships.
