Madani Blasts Congress for Weak Communalism Stance

Arshad Madani, the leader of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, criticized the Congress party for not taking a strong stand against communalism after India's independence.

He believes that if the Congress had dealt with communalism firmly after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, the country would not be facing the problems it does today.

Madani argues that the Congress's lenient approach allowed communal forces to grow stronger.

He also mentioned that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind insisted on a secular constitution, which was eventually framed, but communalism continued to grow.

Madani thinks that if the Congress had taken a strict stand against communalism 77 years ago, it would not have lost power, and the country would be in a better state today.

Madani also stated that the flexible policy adopted by the Congress during its rule toward politics of hatred, based on religion, caused severe damage to both the country and the Constitution.

He believes that the manner in which the Constitution and democratic values are being openly trampled upon today is something that even the leaders of the freedom movement could not have imagined.
