Trump Opens Door to More Bitcoin, Pushes Crypto Rules

Donald Trump wants the United States to become a leading country for cryptocurrency.

He said the government might buy more Bitcoin and other digital assets, but he did not announce a detailed plan.

He said officials would make recommendations about whether and how to do this.

Trump also said the government has a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate stockpile for other digital assets.

He asked Congress to pass the Clarity Act, which would explain how crypto should be regulated.

The bill would also clarify whether the SEC or CFTC oversees different digital assets.

Supporters say clearer rules could attract investment, create jobs and help crypto companies stay in the United States.

Some lawmakers have concerns about political officials making money from crypto businesses, including ventures connected to Trump's family.

Trump also said regulators were working to bring Hyperliquid into the US legal system.

Bitcoin and some crypto-related markets rose after the summit.
