Nedbank Settles Swap Dispute with Transnet
Nedbank, a bank in South Africa, has agreed to pay Transnet, a logistics company, 600 million rand (about $34.8 million) to settle a long legal fight.
The fight was about some financial deals they made in 2015 and 2016.
Transnet and a government anti-graft agency said Nedbank made too much money from these deals, but Nedbank said they did nothing wrong.
Both companies are happy to settle and will keep working together to help the country's economy.
The deals were advised by a company linked to some people who might have done something bad, but Nedbank says they didn't know about it.
Nedbank will pay Transnet 600 million rand ($34.8 million) to settle a legal dispute over interest-rate swaps.
The settlement was made without any admission of liability by Nedbank.
The dispute involved transactions from 2015 and 2016, with Transnet and the Special Investigating Unit seeking to recover allegedly undue payments.
Nedbank denied wrongdoing, stating its profit was market-related and amounted to less than 43 million rand.
The swaps were advised by Regiments Capital Pty Ltd., a firm linked to the Gupta family, who are alleged to have been involved in corrupt practices.
