Coal India Arms BCCL, CMPDI Listing Underway, Market Study Ongoing
Imagine Coal India has two smaller companies, BCCL and CMPDI, that it wants to sell a small piece of to the public.
This is like selling shares in a lemonade stand.
They have already told the stock market helpers, called SEBI, that they want to do this.
But before they sell, the government minister says they need to check if it's a good time to sell, like checking if people want to buy lemonade right now.
So, they are doing a 'market study'.
Once they know it's the right moment, they will sell those pieces of their companies.
Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy announced that a market study for listing Coal India arms BCCL and CMPDI is currently underway.
The decision for listing will be made at the appropriate time, following the completion of the market study.
BCCL and CMPDI have previously filed draft red herring prospectuses with SEBI, BSE, and NSE for their proposed IPOs.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the mines ministry pavilion at the India International Trade Fair (IITF).
The minister also reviewed the performance of public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the coal sector.
