Judge Halts Plan to Cut Voice of America Jobs
A judge has put a pause on the government's plan to fire hundreds of people who work at Voice of America, a news agency that broadcasts to the world.
The judge wants to make sure things stay the same while he decides if the job cuts are okay.
The judge is concerned the government hasn't been fully honest with him.
He also previously ordered VOA to broadcast news more like it used to, after the government made cuts.
The agency that oversees Voice of America is also home to other news agencies, like Radio Free Europe.
The goal is to ensure America's voice is heard abroad.
A judge blocked the elimination of 532 jobs at the US Agency for Global Media.
The ruling was made by US District Judge Royce Lamberth.
The job cuts were planned by the Trump administration.
The judge accused the administration of "concerning disrespect" towards the court.
The agency houses multiple broadcasters, including Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
