GST Restructuring: IPL Tickets and State Approval
The Indian government is changing the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Most things will have either a 5% or 18% tax.
IPL tickets now have a very high 40% tax, which has caused discussion.
This is a big change from the original tax rate of 28%.
The government wants to encourage spending and boost the economy, with the changes going into effect on September 22.
Although, some people think it is unfair for fans.
GST reforms include higher taxes for IPL tickets and tax exemptions for the BCCI.
IPL tickets are now taxed at 40%, the same rate as casinos and luxury items.
Movie tickets under ₹100 now attract 5% GST, providing some relief for cinema-goers.
