US Suspends Eight Tech Firms From Green Card Program

The U.S. government has stopped eight technology companies from using a program that helps some foreign workers seek permanent work in the country.

Five of the companies are Indian IT firms: Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, HCL and Cognizant.

Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe are also affected.

The Labour Department says it will not take new applications or process pending ones involving these companies.

Officials said they were concerned about how foreign-worker programs were being used and whether American workers were losing job opportunities.

They also linked the move to federal investigations.

The article does not include responses from the companies.

The decision may matter to Indian professionals seeking work in the United States.
