Mizoram Registers Biometrics of Myanmar, Bangladeshi Refugees

Mizoram, a state in northeastern India, is helping refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh.

These refugees are people who had to leave their homes because of problems like a military coup in Myanmar and ethnic troubles in Bangladesh.

The government of Mizoram is collecting fingerprints and other information from these refugees to keep track of them.

They are doing this in special camps and also in the homes where refugees are staying with family or friends.

The process is a bit slow because of technical problems and the fact that many refugees live in remote villages.

The refugees from Myanmar are mostly from the Chin state, and they share similar culture and traditions with the people of Mizoram.

The refugees from Bangladesh are mostly from the Chittagong Hill Tracts and belong to the Bawm community, who also have cultural similarities with the Mizos.

Mizoram shares long borders with both Myanmar and Bangladesh, and there is no fence along these borders, making it easier for people to cross.
