Kennedy's Vaccine Adviser Previously Sued Merck Over Gardasil
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health Secretary, has picked a new person to advise on vaccines.
This person previously worked as an expert witness in lawsuits against the Gardasil vaccine, made by Merck.
He was paid a lot of money for this work.
Because of his past, there's a rule that he might not be allowed to work on the vaccine panel or vote on anything to do with Merck.
He might need special permission.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed a new vaccine adviser.
The new adviser, Martin Kulldorff, served as an expert witness in litigation against Merck's Gardasil vaccine.
Kulldorff was paid $400 per hour for his expert witness work.
Under ACIP rules, committee members cannot be expert witnesses in litigation against vaccine manufacturers.
Kulldorff's past work may require a waiver from the CDC and recusal from votes involving Merck.
