Asian Games Medallists Earn Direct Route To 2027 Worlds
The Boxing Federation of India has made a plan to help more Indian boxers reach the 2028 Olympics.
Boxers who win medals at the 2026 Asian Games will get a direct place at the 2027 World Championships.
That championship is the first event where boxers can earn Olympic quota places.
National championship winners will be backups in categories led by Asian Games medallists.
They will be the main entries in categories where India has no Asian Games medallist.
They will also lead in Olympic categories that are not part of the Asian Games.
Boxers who narrowly miss a quota at the World Championships will get a direct place at the Asian Qualifier.
Two more qualifying tournaments will take place in Italy and Hungary in 2028.
The BFI says the system creates a clear pathway based on performance and national training-camp selection.
Indian boxers winning 2026 Asian Games medals will receive direct entry to the 2027 World Boxing Championships.
The 2027 World Championships in Kazakhstan will be the first Olympic qualifying event for Los Angeles 2028.
Gold medallists from India’s 10th Elite National Championships will serve as reserves where Asian Games medallists are main entries.
National champions will be main entries in categories without an Indian Asian Games medal or outside the Asian Games program.
Boxers missing a quota after reaching the World Championships’ quota-bout round will qualify directly for the Asian Qualifier in China.
