Howrah Station Expands with New Platform
Howrah Station in West Bengal has a new platform, number 24, which started working on Monday.
This platform is very long, about 635 meters, and can fit a big train with 24 coaches.
Before this, long-distance trains had to wait a lot at platform 17.
Now, the South Eastern Railway will use the new platform for its express trains.
This will help passengers because they won't have to wait as long.
Soon, platform 17 will be given to the Eastern Railway to make it longer so it can also fit big trains.
The station is also getting more platforms and extending others to fit even longer trains.
This is all part of a big plan to make the station better and handle more trains.
New platform 24 at Howrah Station started commercial services on Monday.
Platform 24 is 635 meters long and can accommodate a 24-coach train.
South Eastern Railway will operate express trains from the new platform.
Platform 17 will be handed over to Eastern Railway for extension to fit longer trains.
Howrah Station is undergoing redevelopment with the addition of new platforms and extension of existing ones.
