Supreme Court gives Centre three weeks to finalise airfare rules

The Supreme Court in India is a very important court that makes sure rules are followed.

It is worried that airplane tickets are getting too expensive for people.

The government has a new law called the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, which started in January 2025.

This law needs new rules to protect passengers.

The court told the government to finish making these rules within three weeks.

It also said the rules should be shown to everyone within seven days.

The court warned that airlines that do not follow the rules could be grounded, meaning they cannot fly.

A man named S Laxminarayanan asked the court to help because he thinks airlines charge too much.

He also thinks airlines should not reduce the free baggage people can carry.

The court will check the progress again on September 7.
