US, Denmark and Greenland Set to Sign Arctic Security Deal

The United States, Denmark and Greenland plan to sign a security agreement.

The signing is expected next week.

It will happen during the United Nations General Assembly.

Three governments will sign the deal.

Denmark and Greenland must still complete parliamentary steps before it can be enforced.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the agreement respects Greenland and Denmark’s sovereignty.

She also said it supports the right of both peoples to choose their own future.

The agreement is about security in the Arctic region.
