Hyderabad-Born Astronomer Behind Study of Mysterious 'Black Hole Star'

Hyderabad-Born Astronomer Behind Study of Mysterious 'Black Hole Star'

Scientists have found a strange, super-bright object in space that looks like a star.

It is about 100 billion times brighter than an ordinary star like our Sun.

An astronomer named Rohan Naidu helped study this object.

Naidu grew up in Hyderabad, India, and left engineering school when he was 18.

He went to college in Singapore and eventually became a scientist at MIT.

The object, called MoM-BH-1*, might actually be a black hole covered in a giant cloud of gas.

The gas is so thick that it looks like a huge star as big as our whole solar system.

The black hole eats up the gas, and that's what makes the object shine so brightly.

This discovery could help explain other strange little red dots that the James Webb Space Telescope has spotted in the early universe.
