India's Reservoir Storage Dips, Still Significantly Above Average
India's main water storage tanks, called reservoirs, are still mostly full, even though the amount of water stored went down a little this week.
The total storage is more than last year and higher than usual.
This good water supply, along with recent rainfall, is positive news for farmers.
Rainfall amounts varied across the country, with some regions having a lot more rain than others.
Storage in India's major reservoirs is at 89.5% of capacity.
Storage is 3.5 percentage points higher than a year ago.
Eleven dams in Maharashtra are full.
Overall monsoon rainfall was 7% surplus.
Good reservoir storage benefits the upcoming rabi crop season.
