Azerbaijan Willing to Send Peacekeepers to Gaza If Fighting Ceases
Imagine two groups, Israel and Hamas, are fighting in a place called Gaza.
Some countries, including the U.S., want to send helpers called peacekeepers to make things safe after the fighting stops.
Azerbaijan said they might send their helpers, but only if everyone stops fighting completely.
This is because they don't want their helpers to get hurt.
The U.S. has asked other countries like Indonesia and Egypt to help too, forming a big team of about 20,000 helpers.
A plan at the United Nations says these helpers can use force if needed to keep Gaza safe.
Hamas hasn't said if they will give up their weapons, which is something they have disagreed with before.
Azerbaijan will only send peacekeepers to Gaza if all fighting stops.
The U.S. is discussing potential contributions to an International Stabilization Force (ISF) with several countries, including Azerbaijan.
The proposed ISF would consist of approximately 20,000 troops.
A UN resolution would empower the ISF to use necessary measures, including force, to ensure security in Gaza.
Hamas has previously rejected proposals for disarming and demilitarizing Gaza.
