AI-enabled GeM platform to make public procurement more efficient, cost-effective

AI-enabled GeM platform to make public procurement more efficient, cost-effective

GeM is like a giant online shop used by the Indian government to buy the things it needs.

The shop just turned ten years old, and leaders held a big celebration in New Delhi.

The person in charge of India's trade, Piyush Goyal, spoke at the party.

He wants GeM to use smart computer programs, called AI, to make shopping cheaper and better.

These programs can check prices and make sure buying and selling is fair.

More than 25 lakh sellers use this shop to sell things to the government.

The government has bought things worth more than Rs 20 lakh crore through GeM.

Many small businesses, women-led businesses and startups have earned money there.

To make it easier to get help, GeM also launched a new five-digit phone number, 14550.
