Gurugram Cuts Construction Waste Charges Amid Garbage Pile-Up

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram lowered the fee for some construction waste.

The price dropped from Rs 360 to Rs 50 per tonne.

This applies mainly to homeowners and people doing small renovations.

The city hopes the lower price will reduce illegal dumping.

Companies or others producing large amounts of waste will still pay Rs 360 per tonne.

A 37-day strike by municipal sanitation workers also ended.

Garbage has built up across Gurgaon during the sanitation problems.

The workers’ union said the heaps could be cleared within three days.
