Old Economy Holds 83% of Indian Wealth, New Economy Grows
A big study looked at the richest people in India and how they made their money.
It found that most of the money comes from old businesses like factories and banks.
New businesses, like tech companies, have a smaller share but are growing fast.
The study counted 3,040 people who each own a lot of stock.
These people are very young or very old, showing that wealth can come from many generations.
The report says that as new companies grow, they will own more of the total wealth.
83% of Rs 104 lakh crore equity wealth is held by old‑economy sectors.
New‑economy entrepreneurs account for 15.5% of total wealth.
The report lists 3,040 individuals with equity holdings above Rs 425 crore.
2,267 wealth creators come from manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, and other traditional industries.
Wealth creators range in age from 7 to 96, showing multi‑generational diversity.
