Mumbai Coastal Road Gardens Face Traffic and Parking Concerns

Mumbai Coastal Road Gardens Face Traffic and Parking Concerns

Mumbai plans to build large gardens near Breach Candy along the Coastal Road.

The gardens could have sports courts, walking trails, children’s attractions, food stalls and other activities.

Residents worry that many visitors will bring more cars and traffic.

They are also concerned about limited parking and pedestrian safety.

A study discussed at a community meeting suggests that as many as one lakh people could visit on busy days.

Residents suggested running shuttle buses from Haji Ali instead of opening many entrances through Breach Candy.

They also want the Napean Sea Road exit completed quickly to help manage traffic.

The foundation stone is expected to be laid later in September 2026.
