Assam Cabinet Approves 20% Durga Puja Bonus for ATCL Workers
The Assam government approved extra festival benefits before Durga Puja.
Tea workers in government-owned ATCL gardens will receive a bonus equal to 20% of their wages.
This matches the bonus already announced by many other tea gardens.
Assam has 807 tea gardens, and 548 had already announced the bonus.
People receiving help through the Orunodoi program will get Rs 1,500 in October instead of Rs 1,250.
State government workers will also get one extra day off.
Their Durga Puja holiday will last from October 17 to October 20.
The chief minister said a similar special payment may be made for Rongali Bihu in April.
