Bengaluru Home Redesigned for All-Season Comfort
A lady named Sudha Shetty in Bengaluru decided to make her old 50-year house better for all seasons.
She kept the old walls and roof but made many changes to make the house use less energy.
She added things like a big solar chimney to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter.
She also used solar power and rainwater to save money and help the environment.
The house now has special tiles, big windows that let in light but not too much heat, and even a special kitchen for her pet.
The house is so good for the environment that it got a special award called IGBC NESTPLUS Platinum.
Sudha Shetty redesigned a 50-year-old Bengaluru home to be energy-efficient and climate-responsive.
The house features a 12-foot solar chimney, white-tiled roofs, and high-performance insulated glass for passive cooling and heating.
Solar power and a 300-litre solar water heater meet one-third of the home's electricity and hot water needs.
Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling reduce the home's water demand and environmental impact.
The home achieved the highest green building rating, IGBC NESTPLUS Platinum, for its sustainable design.
