Deepinder Goyal Unveils India-Built Electric UAV by LAT Aerospace
Imagine a special kind of airplane that doesn't need a long runway.
Deepinder Goyal, who helped start Zomato, has a new company called LAT Aerospace that built a new electric airplane that can fly without a pilot.
This airplane is special because it can take off and land using a very short space, only about 40 meters long, which is like the length of a few school buses.
It can fly for a full hour and is designed to travel between cities like Mumbai and Pune.
The company built everything from scratch, including their own special lab, and they want to make airplanes in India for India.
They are also working on making the engines even better for the future.
Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal unveiled a prototype electric, fixed-wing UAV from his venture LAT Aerospace.
The UAV is a uSTOL technology demonstrator, built entirely in-house in a few months.
It can take off in 40 meters, has a 60-minute endurance, and can fly autonomously between Mumbai and Pune.
LAT Aerospace aims to build a regional aviation network using aircraft that operate from compact air-stops.
The company is researching hybrid-electric propulsion and indigenous gas turbine engines for future development.
