Mumbai Court Acquits Man in Poisoned Ice-Cream Case
A man in Mumbai was accused of giving his three children ice-cream mixed with rat poison.
One child died, and the other two got very sick.
The police said the man did this because he was upset about fights at home.
But when the case went to court, the witnesses, including the children's mother, said they didn't see the man do anything wrong.
The doctor who treated the children also didn't keep important evidence.
Because of this, the court said the police didn't prove the man was guilty, so he was let go.
A 37-year-old man was accused of poisoning his three children with rat poison mixed in ice-cream, leading to one death and two hospitalizations.
The prosecution's case collapsed as key witnesses, including the victims' mother, turned hostile and denied the allegations.
The court noted that the prosecution failed to link the accused to the crime and that crucial evidence, like the lavage sample, was not preserved.
The investigating officers admitted they did not find any independent witnesses to connect the accused with the seized rat poison.
The judge acquitted the accused, stating that the prosecution had 'miserably failed' to prove the case against him.
