DIG Bhullar Files Bail Plea
A police officer named Harcharan Singh Bhullar was arrested by the CBI for allegedly asking for a bribe.
His lawyers say the CBI didn't follow the rules when they arrested him and that the case shouldn't have been registered in the first place.
They also say Bhullar was kept in custody longer than allowed and that the CBI tried to make the case fit their rules.
The court has asked the CBI to respond to Bhullar's request to be released on bail, and the hearing is happening today.
DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar filed a bail plea in the Special CBI Court in Chandigarh.
The court issued a notice to the CBI to respond to the bail plea.
The defence argued that the CBI lacked jurisdiction to register the case and violated legal procedures.
Bhullar's arrest was alleged to be illegal, with discrepancies in the arrest memo and custody duration.
The defence claimed that the CBI engineered jurisdiction and acted with a conspiracy against Bhullar.
