Tamil Nadu on Alert for Heavy Rain
Tamil Nadu is expecting a lot of rain from January 9 to 11 because of a big weather system in the Bay of Bengal.
The weather department says there will be heavy rain, and some areas are on high alert.
People are wondering if schools will be closed.
The rain might be very strong at times, and there might be strong winds too.
It's important to stay safe and follow any announcements about school closures and weather updates.
The weather has been dry for a while, so this rain might finally bring some wet weather to the area.
Everyone should pay attention to updates from the weather department and local authorities to know if schools will be open or not.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are on alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall from January 9 to 11.
IMD issued an orange alert for Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Cuddalore districts, and a yellow alert for Chennai and other districts.
Chennai is expected to experience generally cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and moderate to heavy rain.
Strong surface winds of 35-45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, are likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
The deep depression is likely to weaken into a depression and cross the north Sri Lanka coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna.
