Jobseekers Lured as Ganja Couriers in Hyderabad
Some bad people are pretending to be job recruiters online.
They promise free trips to Thailand for job interviews to young people who are looking for jobs.
But these young people are actually being tricked into smuggling a type of drug called ganja back to India.
The drug is hidden inside things like water heaters and other household items.
Customs officials at the airport in Hyderabad have caught many of these smugglers and have seized a lot of ganja.
They say that Thailand has made it easy to get cannabis, and these bad people are using that to bring the drug into India.
The young people who get caught often don't know they are carrying drugs and are promised money and free trips for their help.
Gangsters are posing as online recruiters to lure young jobseekers into smuggling ganja from Thailand to India.
Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad have seized 110 kg of ganja worth ₹110 crore.
The ganja is concealed in household items like water heaters, air purifiers, and rice cookers to avoid detection.
Over the last two financial years, 21 people, including two Nepali nationals, have been arrested for smuggling attempts.
Young individuals are often promised free trips, accommodation, and modest financial incentives to transport what they believe are innocuous items.
