IIT Kanpur Suicides Spark National Task Force Report
The Education Ministry has set up a team to look into several student suicides at IIT Kanpur.
This team will check what happened, see if the school is following mental health rules, and talk to students and teachers.
They need to finish their report in 15 days.
The goal is to make sure students get the help they need and prevent more tragedies.
A Supreme Court task force also found that many colleges have problems like too much pressure, not enough support for mental health, and unfair treatment of some students.
They want colleges to make changes to keep students safe and happy.
The Ministry of Education formed a three-member committee to investigate student suicides at IIT Kanpur.
The committee, led by Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, will review recent suicide cases and mental health support systems.
The panel has 15 days to submit its findings and propose reforms.
The investigation follows the death of a 25-year-old PhD scholar and calls for better mental health infrastructure.
The committee may interview students, faculty, and administrators to identify systemic gaps.
