Mirzapur: The Movie's Gamble Pays Off, Says Writer
Mirzapur: The Movie continues the world of the popular Mirzapur series.
Writer Puneet Krishna says the movie follows a separate story happening alongside the first season.
He and director Gurmmeet Singh wanted to surprise viewers with new characters and relationships.
They also wanted the movie to look bigger than the show.
Familiar characters return, while people such as Babban Babua Yadav and Chandu Pancher are introduced.
Krishna says some scenes were made simply to let the audience enjoy the characters.
He believes viewers connected with the characters and the nostalgia from the series.
He also says the producers took a big financial gamble by supporting the film.
Writer Puneet Krishna says Mirzapur: The Movie’s response has exceeded the team’s expectations.
The film tells a parallel storyline set alongside the events of the first season.
Director Gurmmeet Singh pushed for a larger visual and thematic canvas than the series.
