Mumbai Coastal Road Progresses Toward 2028 Completion
Mumbai is building a big new road along its coast to help people travel faster.
The road will run from Bandra to Bhayander and will be eight lanes wide.
It should cut travel time from about two hours to just 40 minutes.
The government wants to finish the main part by December 2028 and the whole project by March 2029.
They are also working on a bridge and a water plant to help the city grow safely.
Mumbai Coastal Road aims to create a new north‑south corridor along the western coast.
Target completion for the Bandra‑Versova‑Bhayander stretch is December 2028, with an outer deadline of March 2029.
The eight‑lane expressway is expected to cut travel time from nearly two hours to about 40 minutes.
The project includes interchanges, tunnels, and a planned Madh‑Versova Bridge to improve connectivity.
Environmental safeguards, mangrove conservation, and community concerns are being addressed by the government.
