US Clears $2.27 Billion Arms Sales to Gulf Allies and Egypt

The United States has approved three possible sales of military equipment and services to the UAE, Egypt, and Kuwait.

Together, the proposals are estimated to cost about $2.27 billion.

The UAE could receive guidance sections for a type of weapon.

Egypt could receive Javelin missiles and launch units.

Kuwait’s proposal is for repair and return services for Patriot missiles.

These approvals are an important step, but they do not mean the deals are final.

The parties can still negotiate the terms, and contracts are not guaranteed.

The announcement came more than seven months after the Iran war began.
