Calcutta High Court Transfers Bengal Digital Arrest Case To CBI

A woman in Narendrapur was allegedly tricked into giving fraudsters ₹2.66 crore.

The scammers pretended to be police or CBI officers.

They told her that a legal warrant was pending against her.

They kept her on video calls and told her not to contact anyone.

This kind of fraud is called a digital arrest scam.

The Calcutta High Court has now given the case to the CBI.

The state must send all the case papers to the CBI within seven days.

The Supreme Court said the CBI should investigate these cases because the criminals and money may be spread across different states.
