Cipla Focuses on Obesity and Chronic Therapies Amidst Revenue Shift
Cipla, a large medicine company, announced how well it did in the last three months (the second part of their financial year).
Their total money earned went up by 8%, reaching over 7,500 crore rupees.
Their profit also grew a little bit.
This good performance comes as Cipla is focusing more on medicines for long-term health issues like diabetes and also for weight loss.
They have partnered with another company, Eli Lilly, to sell a new medicine called Yurpeak, which helps with diabetes and weight.
They have also started selling a generic version of a popular diabetes drug.
Cipla is also working on new medicines in the U.S., including treatments for breathing problems and complex biological drugs.
They are also investing more money in developing new medicines for the future.
Cipla reported an 8% year-on-year revenue growth to ₹7,589 crore for Q2 FY26, with a net profit increase of 3.7% to ₹1,351 crore.
The company achieved a strong EBITDA margin of 25% and is focusing on chronic and obesity therapies, including distributing Yurpeak (Tirzepatide) in partnership with Eli Lilly.
Cipla launched a generic version of Semaglutide in India's anti-diabetes market to bolster its presence in metabolic health.
In the U.S., Cipla's revenue was $233 million, with plans to build its portfolio of complex generics, peptides, and biosimilars as Revlimid sales decrease.
Research and development spending increased to ₹539 crore (7.1% of revenue) for planned launches of respiratory drugs, peptide products, and biosimilars.
