Venky's Reports Q2 Net Loss of ₹27 Crore Amidst Poultry Segment Challenges
Imagine a company called Venky's that sells chicken and other animal products.
In the last three months, they didn't make as much money as they did last year.
This is because the cost of feeding their chickens and other materials went up, and they got less money when they sold their chickens.
This caused the company to lose money instead of making a profit for this period.
However, other parts of their business, like selling animal medicines and some seeds, are still doing okay.
Even though they lost money this quarter, their overall assets have increased a bit.
Venky's reported a net loss of ₹27 crore for the quarter ending September 30, 2025, a reversal from a profit of ₹7.76 crore a year ago.
The financial downturn is primarily attributed to challenges in the poultry segment, including lower sale prices for chicks and grown birds.
Total income decreased slightly to ₹81,123 lakh compared to the previous quarter, but was higher than the same period last year.
Increased cost of materials consumed, rising to ₹60,807 lakh, contributed to the company's reduced profitability.
While the poultry segment incurred losses, the animal health products and oilseed segments showed positive performance.
