NIA arrests prime accused in Kerala organ trafficking case
Imagine someone is tricking people who need money into going to another country, Iran, to sell their body parts.
A special police group called the NIA caught the main person, named Madhu, who was doing this.
This person would tell people it was okay and legal to donate organs in Iran, but it wasn't.
The NIA is now talking to Madhu to find out more about this whole operation and help the people who were tricked.
This whole thing started when someone noticed a young person who seemed suspicious at the airport.
The NIA has arrested Madhu Jayakumar, the prime accused in a case involving trafficking individuals to Iran for illegal organ donation.
Madhu was arrested in Kochi, Kerala, after arriving from Iran on November 8, 2024.
The investigation revealed that the accused targeted financially distressed individuals and lured them to Iran with false promises of legal organ donation.
The case initially came to light on May 18, 2024, when immigration officials at Kochi airport intercepted a youth suspected of involvement in the organ-trafficking network.
Madhu had been residing in Iran, and an Interpol Red Corner Notice was issued against him in February 2025. His arrest is considered crucial for the NIA's investigation into the operations in Iran.
