Collector Directs Effective Aid Scheme Implementation
The District Collector in Puttaparthi had a meeting with other important officials to talk about a special program called the ‘Aid to Poor Prisoners’ scheme.
This program helps poor people in jail who can't pay their fines or bail because they don't have enough money.
The Collector told the officials to make sure this program works well.
He said they should check if the prisoners are really poor within seven days and give them money if they need it.
The money, up to Rs 50,000, should be given quickly, and the officials must meet every first and third Monday to talk about these cases.
If there are any delays, the jail officials have to tell the DLSA about it.
The goal is to help these prisoners get out of jail faster.
District Collector A Shyam Prasad directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the ‘Aid to Poor Prisoners’ scheme.
The Empowered Committee should meet on the first and third Mondays of every month to review cases.
Financial assistance of up to Rs 50,000 per prisoner can be sanctioned and must be deposited within five days.
Prisoners’ financial status must be verified within seven days with the support of jail visiting advocates and other officials.
Fines up to Rs 25,000 can be sanctioned by the Empowered Committee, while higher amounts require approval from the Monitoring Committee.
