HDFC Bank Shares Rise as Jagdishan Exit Spurs Succession

HDFC Bank’s chief executive, Sashidhar Jagdishan, will not ask to stay for another term.

He has worked at the bank for almost 30 years.

He became its chief in 2020 after Aditya Puri retired.

During his time as CEO, the bank completed a large merger with Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited.

The bank’s shares rose after the announcement.

Investors are now waiting to learn who will become the next CEO.

Kaizad Bharucha is one possible internal choice, but the bank is also considering people from outside.

Analysts praised some parts of Jagdishan’s record but said the bank still faces performance and governance challenges.
