Mumbai Prepares for 2027 Census with November Survey in M/West Ward
Imagine you're getting ready for a big school test.
Before the real test, the teachers do a small practice test with some students to see how it goes.
That's what's happening here!
India is planning a big counting of everyone, called a census, for the year 2027.
To make sure the counting goes smoothly, they will do a small practice count, like a mini-test.
This practice count will happen in a specific area of Mumbai called M/West ward, which is in Chembur.
It will also happen in two other places in Maharashtra.
This practice helps them get ready and figure out the best way to count everyone for the big 2027 census.
A pre-census survey will be conducted in Mumbai's M/West ward starting in November.
This survey is a pilot test for the nation-wide census scheduled for 2027.
Mumbai's M/West ward is one of three sample locations chosen in Maharashtra for the pre-testing.
The national census's first phase is planned from April to September 2027.
The pre-test household census will take place nationwide between November 10 and 30.
