Supreme Court Declines Urgent Hearing on Police Action Against Student Protesters
The Supreme Court of India recently refused to hear a case quickly that was about the Delhi Police taking action against students who were protesting.
These students were part of a group called the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), and they wanted the Education Minister to resign because of problems with exam leaks.
The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, said they didn't want to waste time and didn't want to watch videos of the protests.
The Delhi High Court had also said the day before that they didn't want to get involved.
The students were protesting about issues with the NEET exam and the National Testing Agency, and they said the police were being too harsh.
But the courts didn't think it was important enough to deal with right away.
The Supreme Court refused to hear an urgent petition challenging Delhi Police action against student protesters.
The protests were organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over exam paper leaks.
Chief Justice Surya Kant dismissed the request for immediate intervention, stating not to waste time.
The petition highlighted concerns about the NEET exam, NTA reforms, and alleged police violence.
The Supreme Court declined to review video footage of alleged police excesses.
