FM Sitharaman Allocates ₹650 Crore to SWAMIH Fund
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given ₹650 crore to a special fund called SWAMIH in the latest budget.
This fund helps finish housing projects that got stuck because they didn't have enough money.
Since it started in 2019, SWAMIH has helped build over 61,000 homes and created many jobs.
It has also made sure that the money is used wisely and has even given some back to the government.
The fund is very important because it helps people get homes and supports the economy by creating jobs and boosting related industries like cement and steel.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated ₹650 crore to the SWAMIH Investment Fund in the Union Budget 2026-27.
SWAMIH was launched in November 2019 to revive stalled residential projects through last-mile financing.
The fund has supported 145 projects across 30 cities, delivering 61,000 homes and creating 36,000 jobs.
SWAMIH has unlocked ₹37,400 crore in capital and contributed ₹6,900 crore to government revenues.
The fund has demonstrated fiscal prudence by returning nearly 50% of its drawn capital to investors.
