Punjab RERA Orders Omaxe, PUDA to Pay Interest for Delay
A woman named Anu Gupta bought a commercial site in a project called PDA-OMAXE City in Patiala.
The project was delayed, and she didn't get the site on time.
She complained to the Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
RERA said the companies, Omaxe Limited and PUDA, were responsible for the delay and ordered them to pay interest to Anu Gupta.
The site was supposed to be given to her according to the allotment letter, but the companies couldn't complete the project on time.
Punjab RERA ordered Omaxe Limited and PUDA to pay interest to Anu Gupta for delay in possession of a commercial site.
The site, SCO No. 46, Pocket I, measuring 120.24 sq yards, was allotted on July 16, 2010.
Anu Gupta paid a total of Rs 65,04,984 towards the sale consideration.
RERA Member-II Arunvir Vashista held that the promoters failed to complete the project and give possession as per the allotment letter.
The order strengthens the rights of real estate allottees in Punjab.
