New Buddhist Group in Ladakh Seeks Greater Rights
A new group called the Voice of Buddhist Ladakh (VBL) has been formed to represent the interests of Buddhists in Ladakh.
They are concerned that their voices are not being heard in talks with the Indian government.
The group wants better protection for their land, culture, and jobs.
They met with the local leader, Kavinder Gupta, to share their demands.
This new group could make the talks more complicated, but it might also help ensure that more people's concerns are addressed.
The government and local groups have been talking for a while, but they haven't made much progress yet.
The VBL hopes to change that.
Voice of Buddhist Ladakh (VBL) launched to represent Buddhist interests in Ladakh.
Concerns include lack of constitutional safeguards, land protection, and employment opportunities.
VBL met with Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta to present their demands.
Existing negotiating bodies, LAB and KDA, have not fully addressed Buddhist concerns.
VBL aims to engage through institutional channels rather than street protests.
