Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi's Jail Term Suspended by Gujarat HC
A famous movie director named Rajkumar Santoshi got into trouble because a check he wrote bounced, meaning there wasn't enough money to pay it.
A judge in a lower court sentenced him to two years in jail.
He appealed this decision, but the judge said he still had to go to jail.
So, he went to a higher court, the Gujarat High Court.
The High Court decided to temporarily stop the jail sentence.
This means he doesn't have to go to jail for now while they review his case more.
He has to follow some rules, like not leaving the country.
He also agreed to pay some money, part of which he has already deposited, and the rest he will pay later.
Gujarat High Court has suspended the two-year jail sentence for filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi in a Rs 1 crore cheque bounce case.
Santoshi was sentenced by a Jamnagar court and his appeal was rejected by the Additional Sessions Judge.
He argued before the High Court that there was no legally enforceable debt and the complaint was not maintainable.
Santoshi agreed to deposit Rs 5 lakh and pay the remaining Rs 83 lakh in two installments by December 2025.
The High Court granted him conditional bail, requiring him not to leave India without permission.
